The Wasatch and Uinta Mountains provide some terrific ice climbing opportunities. Continuous flows of icy splendor are just a stone’s throw away from a variety of access points. It is no surprise that the ice community flourishes in Northern Utah. From single pitch, top rope objectives (perfect for beginners) to multi-pitch whole-day adventures, the area is ripe for exploration.
In many ways, ice climbing can be thought of as a variation on rock climbing. This exhilarating sport allows you to try something new while extending your climbing season into the colder months. Although it may seem foreboding and challenging at first, with proper equipment, technique, and professional training, most climbers progress quickly in their skills while also having a blast in the process!

Ice Intro Clinic

Learn the basics in a fun schoolroom of ice. This Utah based clinic is the perfect introduction to ice climbing if you are just starting out in the sport. We'll work on both proper climbing technique to get you moving with confidence and rope skills to keep you safe. Early season (Nov-Dec) trips may travel by snowmobile to high elevation venues in the Uinta Range.

Advanced Ice Techniques
​
Learn the ins and outs of efficient movement over ice as a climbing team. We'll cover ice specific anchors and belay configurations to help you climb safer and more efficiently. Covered topics include, screw placement, V and Zero Thread anchors, top managed belay sites, direct belays and considerations climbing with two followers. Early season (Nov-Dec) trips may travel by snowmobile to high elevation venues in the Uinta Range.
